First off, I want to start by thanking Pearl Abyss for bringing us together with the Xbox Community! Everyone was a little gun shy, but Xbox is just as amazing and full of character as any of us!

Now for the sad portion of this thread:

Since the update, I have seen a huge decrease in performance. Now, I know everyone says “Go Buy am SSD”, and I want to get right on that, however, that is not the first solution any user should seek. The reason being, the issue may not be fixed solely due to an SSD. The generation of the console plays a huge role as well.

You don’t have to take my word for it, though, I have asked around and gathered minimal data to support this claim. I apologize for not referencing the player base that gave us the data.

The key to my argument may seem arbitrary, but no one should have to invest another $100 - $500 (Highend assuming you buy a newer generation console) knowing that the money invested does not even support Pearl Abyss. I may or may not spend that money if it went partially or in full to Pearl Abyss, as I am a team player.

This is dragging on.

There is a huge drop in frames. This is in PvE and PvP environments. I main RBF so this is where my concern started. To be fair I went back out into the PvE of Balenos Server and encountered the same issue, with less players around.

When the console begins rendering objects and players that have not been or begun being rendered, frame rates drop and all executable commands cease. 
 

This may not seem like a huge issue to some so I will paraphrase the issue with a metaphor : 

Its hard to eat cereal when your spoon is too heavy to pick up.

The PS4 Slim operating systems and supporting hard ware cannot keep up, they are weighed down and will not work properly. You can play, but it will be very unpleasant.

On a final note , I understand that an entity can only do so much at any one time. I am not trying to curse or holler at Pearl Abyss. I just want to give my view and opinion on the matter.

Playing on the ps4 only servers is at least manageable but on any other server and on an archer the frame lag is horrid. Some moments the game will slow to a slideshow for 4-5 seconds and I’ll come out with my weapon sheathed. Ps4 slim with no ssd, but before this update my biggest worry in rbf was an invisible witchard, now it’s just dreadful to even play the game on anything but Epheria 

so why are there no graphical options in this game? do not understand.

This was predicted by many from the community. The game had problems on both consoles and now, after merge, these problems are just adding to each other. 
For me performance hasn't changed too much if at all (One X with SSD) but it's been laggier than usual since the merge, especially on cross platform servers. To me the laggiest was Valencia EU and the least was Florin EU. 

Crossplay servers are on Microsoft and Epheria is on PS4 server.. Microsoft has better servers. It's not about performance. Servers are crowded 

It was tolerable (despite being a £60 game with £30 "micro"transactions) before cross play was implemented, but now it's an appalling experience. One of my Guild members described how he felt nauseous after an hour of trying to play this stuttering mess.

I've collected 5 months of video showing just how terrible this is and will be editing and uploading it before sending a copy to Sony. This game should not be sold as a finished product when it's barely working at the level of an Alpha test and it constantly feels like you are playing over a dial-up connection. What galls me more is that for 6 months we've been promised performance would be addressed only for it to get worse, yet the Pearl Shop has constant updates and issues are fixed within hours.

I love the game, but apart from a daily login I can't bring myself to play it. It's broken and nobody seems to be doing anything but talk about it for 2 mins, then forget about it for 2 months. It has got to the stage where frustration is on a high level amongst players I've spoken to on PS4, with many either moving to PC or quitting altogether (mostly the latter.)

Red Battlefield is desyncing a lot,.

After knocking down players bodies ends up on a random spot and keeps moving places until they get up. It's overall laggy and feels like massive frame drops and freezes occur when turning camera.

I'd remove shadows and some particles or potato mode pls

The desync is happening in BA as well.

I think BDO has a lot of problems on PC even but ps4 is by far the worst. I don't know why they haven't fixed the things people complain about on PC. I don't even know how ps4 was allowed to be this bad performance wise.

Playing a shai in rbf on slim with no ssd is painful. Using forest echo around an enemy player causes massive frame drop for the entire duration of your stamina bar. 

It seems cross play only broke ps4 version. Took the free trial on Xbox X: Made a new char, ran to Hidel no frame rate drop what so ever. Then up my characters from pa4 pro and went to find my Xbox character...can barely get across Hidel cuz all the frame drop and invisible walls (loading)

I switched from standard PS4 to PS4 pro with SSD 480gb (560 / 480mb) sataIII ... And Unfortunately Black Desert is not optimized correctly, because it crashes frequently, paralyzes from nowhere!  and the server generates a long delay!

I feel the pain, also i suggest you turn all the way down the effects specially shaking as it helps a lot

Unfortunately since crossplay things like rbf are absolute garbage the second I start fighting I get less than 1fps per second on any class I have it’s not as bad out in Ithe in the open world in over as long as no one is around then it only freezes when I do skills with lots of particles/animations and don’t tell me to go buy an ssd it won’t help with animations.

if you know anything about rendering or or why ssds help load times  you’d know it will only loads stuff that it keeps stored faster/slower dependent on its read and write speed and even then your limited by the PS4 hardware. Should not have to spend an extra 100$+ on a game that try’s to milk its player base like its a f2p game just for it to run correctly.
 

also I have the effects on lowest setting and playing on a ls4 pro at 720p and still plays like Garbo!!!

Cruel reality for those who play on PS4 ... imagine the PVP during these cardiac arrests? it must be frustrating! I already suffered from legs and characters teleporting out of nowhere! imagine being attacked out of nowhere and not even seeing what attacked you!

Howdy Everybody!

This Cowboy has been venturing the other realms while we wait for a good solution! Remember, you can’t have passion without love and hate!

I love our game but hate the current issue, however, we all know the next solid PlayStation solution comes with the next console release.

This being said, maybe we should attempt another approach. Have we tried reaching out to the Sony Community? Maybe they can assist with a temporary solution. We know the hard hitting performance issues are on Sony’s PlayStation series, likely due to the difference in Quality Hardware for today’s gamers. This is being said due to the difference in Microsoft’s Xbox Series.

To be fair, Pearl Abyss has done quiet a lot for the resources they have. They can’t fix everything but they have done a lot for everyone, across the spectrum.

It is a little much for me but maybe someone else can take the mantle for this!
