We need customizable controls before beta ends so we can test it properly.
It plays like the worst versions of AC.
The camera follows you with the left stick. None of the buttons line up with any other games controls. This is almost as bad of controls as mortal combat. I can't fathom what was going through the head of the guy who thought these controls were a good idea. It's like they haven't even played an Xbox game before.
Having just come from the Xbox versions of Darksouls, The Division, and the PC version of Black Desert: I can say that these controls are just no good.
We either need fully customizable controls, or a brand new schema.
The key mapping right now is fine it feels very similar to the way the PC runs. The only thing I mainly agree with is the auto target camera system needs to have a toggle or corrections for it. This isn't every other game and shouldn't be compared as such.
Personally dont care for the controls myself either.

I agree i feel the controls are very similar to PC
Camera follow left stick is a problem and on battle if press r3 stick turn to a random enemy.
Wait... By camera follow left stick do you mean tab target? Cause that's a step backwards.
Just so you guys know it should build up into combos... Almost like playing a fighting game. That's what makes it so skills based opposed to just push X button.
You get used to it, but in larger group, the camera follows random mob, and does 180, which is annoying as fk.
Ya my only beef so far is the camera movement with left stick thing. If they get rid of that I'd be happy.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding...but are you thinking the camera shouldn't ever move unless you move it?
IMO that is a very old setup that's not present in newer games in the Role Playing Genre.

Regardless there should be option for people who prefer it imo. Shouldn't be that difficult to implement and it can be a game changer.

I think it’s pretty smooth the only issue is the aim assist 180 the camera
Camera stick to the mob, or moves without my control when i attack past them. ill try to record and post it...

Its when you turn your character with the left stick the camera pans in that direction, it conflicts with the right stick. Ive only noticed it when your weapons are drawn

ESO is newer and the left stick only moves your character. If all it did was make your character move forward, strafe and backpedal itd be perfect.
As far as the 180 thing goes. I learned very fast not to double tap the right stick I think it was. And once you get used to that it actually is quite useful to spin your char around real quick in battle. I feel the controls actually are quite intuitive and easy to pick up. I do not have very strong experience with a controller WHAT-SO-EVER. I've had this Xbox for 10 days and coming from the PC BDO I have picked this up super fast. Now that is saying something I am one of the most clumsy controller users you can imagine lol
My experience has been postive with the current controll scheme , I feel once "Muscle memory" kicks in it will be even more of a second nature just as if It was a mouse in my hand. As far as an entirely new control scheme goes? Sorry I can't agree with that at all. I suggest giving it more of a chance to get used to it and see how it feels after some hours of gameplay.

So far im LOVING the combat, its responsive, its intuitive, its NON TAB TARGET. Sorry but in this game you actually have to LEARN moves and Memorize how to activate them. Hence the skill portion of the game. The combat is an upgrade of ESO combat in every way. Im pretty happy with my combat experience in this game so far. Promising indeed.

I met you at Pre-Pax this year and gave you my Input on this issue!
Like when you have a quest on (Any of them) or the Camera will Auto-Target a Mob (Sorta) and keep following them.. i see you made it so you can turn off the left-stick auto follow though.. but still happens every once in a while lol
I don't like how on Xbox all my abilities that are tied to X were the abilities that were on Y when I played on PC. But after spending the last few hours at work think about it I think I actually prefer the current control system, I just have to get used to it.
But regarding the 180 camera thing, I only ever have it happen near a lot of mobs. Sometimes after attacking on the camera will shift really fast to point at another mob, which often causes my abilities to wiff. Which really sucks because abilities like rushing crow can already wiff easily if not spaced properly.
Camera cant move with left stick, but move and turn off option on menu dont work good, work only on auto move
It was a bit weird at first but now I am used to the control and like it, I think it just takes time since it's kind of different from games we play on xbox.
Some controls needs to be changed or worked on a little but the controls are not that bad. Feels like the PC version to me.
I really like how snappy skills work.. I'm yet to test other classes but Berserker feels so nice. Keep up the great work.
The camera is freaking me out and some times totaly rotate my character to a diffrent side its anoying as hell
Hi There, I come from PC, playing already with an xbox one controller, and it so frustrating the actual control scheme for the console, i can not even pass the first quest, I understand its a new game and most of all for new players, but as i was waiting for this to come, (i really suck in pc with a controller against the medium players with keyboards :p), i wanted to take the test, and at least, what i would like to have is an option to have the "classic" scheme, or as the op said, configurable controllers, i really cant understand why "Y" is everything now, at least let the controller be configurable, so we have in game icons match the configuration (because you can switch buttons with xbox but they do not match the icons.... I looking at you microsoft AND sony), just my two cents, hope it helps, i love/hate this game :)
Only thing for me is adjust to having to hold the controller differently.
Basically have to use your middle finger for the trigger instead of the index finger like every other game in existence.
Using LB and LT at the same time takes some getting used to.
It is hard to avoid pressing buttons will all fingers as number of combos is huge. I wonder how will they incorporate "C" button while awakening releases. As far as I see there is no buttons left apart from the D-pad.
