Good Evening.
1st of all don't google Grinding Etiquette, all sorts of stuff comes up.
I'm Tekeii, founder of Morghulis/Venari from EU Servers on PC.
One big issue on PC for a very long time especially at launch is the simple grinding etiquette, how to claim a spot and when to bow out and find another spot. I'm well aware there will be a lot of casual players that disagree with this post but this is the way it should be and the unofficial law of all BDO grinding on the PC games. Pretty sure most who have played the PC game in the past will agree.
Early on in the game up to level 55 there will be plenty of places where you can grind, if it's anything like BDO most people will end up at catfish pushing to 55 as soon as possible (I'm assuming Mediah isn't out at release?) 55 will be INCREDIBLY difficult and long winded to hit in Calpheon and honestly if you do push for it you are wasting your time because once Mediah hits it becomes so much easier.
This applies to group grinding and solo grinding, for the sake of this post I will reference everything as a "team".
Scenario's as follows;
You log on. Hey, i want to grind some Manshas to hit level 55 as fast as possible. Run to Manshas (because using a horse early game is stupid, you need the stamina levelling up bro). Oh hey there is a team already doing my rotation; can I?
A) Challenge them for the spot i.e duel or pk.
B) Find another rotation
C) Ask them for group
D) Run around killing their mobs whilst they are grinding.
If you chose D, then you are a very interesting person and need to find another game to play because you are not going to get anywhere in Black Desert. (Wow it's been a while since i wrote interesting person anywhere but feel like that's the nicest thing i can call a griefer, you are 10x worse i am just being nice due to the fact it's new forums)
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
So you chose A, good choice i'm proud of you and I hope you win. Asking for duel should always be 1st. If they ignore then you can go ahead and PK, don't be a dork and just flag up and kill straight away unless you are just looking for fights. If you want the spot, ask for a duel. If they ignore or decline then go ahead and PK till your hearts content.
You win the duel, congratulations the spot is yours and the person who loses should find another place to grind.
You lose the duel, unlucky keep practasing but in the meantime that guy has defended his spot and you should go elsewhere.
He ignores you, you win the PK and he keeps coming back and grinding, declare a guild war and report to their guild leader. If it's anything like on PC most guild will NOT tolerate scrubby ass griefers.
After everything he keeps coming back, he is labeled scum to the planet. Read answer to D, because the same applies to this guy.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
B, Valid choice, plenty of spots to use in BDO even early days. Learn the rotations, check on Reddit if all spots ARE LITERALLY taken, look at the answer to A.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
C, Ask them for a group, not everybody is going to want to group but if they do happy days, no fighting no complaining no griefing. Win win for everyone. If they ignore your request, look at the answer to A. IF you have multiple players and they are a solo player and are not grinding the spot effectively and ignoring you, then flag up and kill this mofo and declare war because thats what garbage guilds deserve when they recruit scrubby ass griefers.
At the end of the day the morale of the story is don't be a dork and everyones life is going to be easier, yes war is amazing, guild wars are fcking great and I hope a lot of that happens but don't be guildless and grief love out of people because 1. you are a dork and 2. you are a dork and the most importantly. 3. You are a dork.
I look forward to killing each and every one of you.
Roll on March.
Regards
Tekeii

Yessir run around in a ghillie and pk when tired of grinding
I like this laws on pc but i was confused about one thing. On scenario a, why im a douchebag if i return to my spot and keep grinding? You offer duel, i refuse and you kill me. In real life you should left. In game you can kill me, but again in game i can die again and again . Both of them are part of the game. If you force someone to leave a spot that he came early or wait for it, why this guy would be douchebag and not you?
And dont assume im a D. I have never pvp for a spot in pc. Im really bad at pvp. I was just leaving or trying to deal when i play this game if someone offer me duel for spot.
Sorry for my english.
We have already clearly determined the karma bombers here in the forums.. lol. Just grind flagged up 24/7. And kill anything in your way. Thats the best way to do it. Should be some punishment for the guy thats stupid enough to keep running at you and dying but there isnt.. good thing to have perma red toons to hunt these people.
I played for about a year on NA and not once did anyone ever ask me to fuel for a spot. On NA it was just flag and attack

Yes lol i just flag and attack never ask. I think its stupid to ask for a duel. Just take what you want that's the beauty of bdo. People ask me for duel i just ignore them and keep farming.

Only place i ever seen was temple or pirates. People tend to do it at pirates for the coins. Sure you can bomb them out, but the whole money is on the coins and if you blow theres up theyll probably come back with more and catch you slipping. Places that have alot to lose tend to ask for duel.

PRO TIPS for Getting Spot from PC Vet (don't listen to Tekeii):
Prologue: Be in Un-Declarable guild OR Have GM Protection.
1st Step:
Come to spot, ignore the person shouting for Duel, mistakenly thinking the spot is theirs to grind.
OR Ask for Duel - If you win he'll just leave. If you lose say you won't leave anyway and proceed to grind the spot.
2nd Step (The other person flags):
Fight, if you die it's absolutely OK, just Ress nearby and run to the spot again. Again proceed with grinding. BONUS Points if you are faster grinding class so that you can follow the guy killing the mobs Right In Front of him.
+ Tell him about his mother or that you have all the time in the world. Be *C*r*e*a*t*i*v*e*
If he flags again, he's on the short-end of the stick because of Karma limitations, he obviously doesn't get how the Spot-Conquest works. Proceed with repeating the above until he runs out of Karma and is RED, then either buff up and kill him, or Call Friends / Call for Support in Channel Chat.
If he doesn't, then plain out-grind him, or share the spot until the person leaves. It'll happen more quickly if he has a EXP or other Buffs on.
Last Few Notes:
- Stay Clear of big groups of mobs, if you're grinding in high end area, as the person might try to use them to kill you. On the other hand, if you manage to CC him in mobs in low-HP when he flags and then dies, you are a real Champ.
- If you're rich or the run is too long, just use Pearls to Ress while he's flagged, he'll burn Karma that much faster.
- The -Karma for Death is dependent on Gear difference, when you see he's Orange and attacks, quickly take off your gear. You'll die much faster and he'll suddenly lose much more Karma making him RED when he didn't expect to.

Unless your in a guild because then you'll get declared in and your whole guild will get camped anywhere they go.
and if the rumor is true you can get killed for up to 10 minutes without any further karma penalty

If you do this, you either:
- Are not in any guild.
- Are in a guild that is un-declarable for the guild that you grief (you can't declare on non-node owning guild when you own a node).
- Are Protected in your guild (GM can mark few members that aren't part of any wars and even when war is on are treated as non-participants).
Alternatively you still have 15 minutes of grind time, then you can switch Channel when the timer expires and War hits. Even more Alternatively you can keep on grinding while doing PVP with the person at the same time.
Trust me i'm like a "professional griefer".

Mmaybe. Our version won't necessarily have this. I'd bet we won't have this problem at launch since nobody will be a node war guild for a few months

We're getting the Korean Karma system so yes.

These are the people that have no business playing a combat game. These are the people that get hunted and put on lists and banned. The great thing is, these are also the people that arent good at the game at all. Like i said before, most decent players have plenty of extra time and toons. Theyll just grind and farm over you without a care because your nothing. They will most certaintly just farm you (becAuse all they care about is pvp, thats why they grind) or they will kill you once, and then grab you and let the mobs destroy you. Ive never seen a successful karma bomber. They just get held by the player and killed by mobs losing thier experience. Its very distasteful and bad advice to suggest players do this. Your just going to get them blacklisted and even worse, cause them to lose their hard earned exp.
If you are in a guild, its pretty much the death of your guild. Once word gets out your a karma bomber its over. If your guild doesnt kick you, they get heavily punished. Theyll most likely be perma deced and every node they drop on they will be the first target to go. The competitive population only usually agree on one thing, policing and punishing karma bombers.
If your a RPer or never plan on doing much in the game or earning levels then by all means be a dbag

Nobody gets blacklisted in bdo and guilds dont get perma decced cause of karma bombers lol your so full of bs. Nobody says you have to be polite in a online game. You can do whatever you want that makes the game fun to you. Random pking is so fun and also taking someone grind spot without asking is very fun. Guilds get heavily punished hahha what a joke.

lulz. your not very acquainted with much about bdo. Karma bombing is the most disrespectful thing you can do. Allmost every guild has a restriction on it, and will boot you if you do it. Almost every large guild Ive seen has a mutual agreement to not only target karma bombers, but that guilds that house them are the first to go in wars. On top of that, some even spy and drop on there nodes on purpose to keep them from gaining anything. Even see people go as far as to target them in the group hunts and blow there boats.
Bdo do what you want, as you please, there aint no rules so quit trying to tell people how to play haha

Plenty of rules, via TOS. But general gamplay wise no. But certainty are plenty of repercussions.

Lol bdo is a free for all just how I like. Just like overgeared people go to sausan and farm noobs, kill afk fishers outside safe zones, kill horses, or just kill someone for walking past you, man so much havoc you can cause

Very acquainted it just isnt that serious as you make it. Been playing since launch. Im just not a vet that pretends to be allmighty and act like im soft cap with 14 lvl 62characters lol. I just get a kick out how many people on this forum think there so much better just they played a little on pc. Im a VET you should listen to me since nobody does on pc lol

With all respect - You have a little too narrow view if you think that being karma bomber / griefer means you are unsucessful. I think of it as battle of wills, whomever has a higher dedication will stay on the spot and get to keep it regardless of some care-bear etiquette "unspoken rules". The game's a jungle and just by being able to kill another player you don't gain anything. It's the moment when the other player accepts those rules and leaves is when you actually win.
By following my ruleset and having strong will you will actually never lose a spot, regardless of how you perform or how many times you are killed. That's the true power of dedication. That's what fuels your progress in BDO.
Also don't kid yourself thinking that there has ever been some sort of "perma ban blacklist" or whatever.. You got good gear? You are decent at your class? That's ok for 99% guilds. The ones that play for some sort of "moral code" don't last very long.
Also drama is what keeps the community together and any sort of personal ad is a good ad.
oh then i should not play witch... because i cant win any duel
lucky im more about a life skiller and dont care about grinding that much.
