Adventurers!
The Black Desert PS4 beta is almost upon us, and we wanted to give you a taste of what to expect. Before that, though we want to thank everyone for their interest in the Playstation 4 beta, and we are all incredibly excited to be welcoming you to the world of Black Desert this weekend.
6 Classes
The beta will feature the 6 launch classes of Black Desert. The classes are well-known by those who have experienced Black Desert before, but for those who have never played Black Desert here is a brief taste of what you can expect from the first 6 classes.
Berserker: Berserkers wield monstrous double-axes as big as their own bodies. They overwhelm their enemies with their size and outrageous strength, annihilating them with ease.
Ranger: Rangers are unrivaled at range. The grace of the Sylphs flows through them giving them excellent movement abilities. Most ranger skills aim to keep as much distance between a ranger and her target as possible
Sorceress: Sorceress can effectively control the battlefield with their dark magic. No matter where they stand on the battlefield, they can unleash fury upon those who stand against them.
Warrior: Warriors are skilled fighters who can use a sword and shield to effectively dismiss opponents. They perfectly balance offense and defense without ever leaving melee.
Witch: Witches are renowned for their excellence with the elements. Whether it’s conjuring huge fireballs or protecting her allies, the witch is an excellent spellcaster.
Wizard: Wizards are experts at controlling the forces of nature and can unleash them at their enemies inflicting massive amounts of damage. During the beta, you will find that the Wizard and the Witch are identical, but they differ later down the road.
Balenos, Serendia, and Calpheon
The beta will include 3 regions for you to explore. Balenos, Serendia, and Calpheon have so many things for you to find and explore, so get your walking boots on and enjoy the beautiful sights of the regions.
The starting area of Balenos includes jewels such as Velia which is a sleepy little coastal village that many adventurers call their home. The sandy beaches and great fishing opportunities there offer a respite from the dangerous imps, goblins, and wolves that also call the region their home. Traveling the area is safe for those that can handle themselves in a fight.
Serendia is a rich and fertile land, and the major city of Heidel sits almost as the crown jewel of the region. Although it has recently given up its power to Calpheon, the region is proud of their heritage and harbor resentment against the Calpheonian powers that interfere with their lives. There are dangerous swamps where Nagas have called their home, and there are even rumors of cultists looking to resurrect their evil god, Kzarka.
Calpheon is a large power in the Black Desert world. Their influence spreads far and wide, but a region this large has many dangers that can lurk around every corner. The almost serene waters of Lake Kaia are home to the Catfishmen, a vicious race of creatures that can ruin anyone's day. Or the once vibrant working mines in Keplan which have now been overrun by a mysterious plague causing those inside to become ruthlessly aggressive. But beyond the dangers, the region of Calpheon is a nature lover's delight filled with lush forests and beautiful lakes and rivers.
Lifeskills
Taking in everything about Black Desert is not just about fighting monsters and selling the goods. The life skill aspect can be incredibly profitable for users to explore, and building up a good economic backbone can really accelerate your growth in Black Desert. As you explore, you may find resources that you can gather with tools such as Iron Ore, Ash Timber, and herbs. Once you start collecting these, you can employ workers to work in your workshops and craft items that can help you in your adventurers, or items that are needed by other adventurers who can then purchase those items. There is also fishing, horse training, cooking, trading, alchemy and more for you to try your hand at.
