Today's patch brings about adjustments to certain skills and Skill Add-ons that affect the resource consumption of targets. Such effects were originally introduced as a special option to inconvenience your opponents momentarily, but since the effects were set to a fixed number rather than a fixed rate, classes with smaller resource pools were at a greater disadvantage, and higher resource reduction effects could end up disrupting the action-packed flow of battle. Thus, we decided to adjust the resource reduction effects of the skills and Skill Add-ons of certain classes whose class identity was not built upon such effects. We will continue to keep a close eye on these effects in order to foster a more thrilling gameplay experience.

For the Succession Warrior, we improved on not only the existing Prime: Solar Flare - Take Down combo but made Prime: Evasion combo more smoothly into Counter, thus allowing for even greater debuff-inducing combos. In addition, we improved on the Guard skill, which once had Warriors block consecutively for quite some time in order to stack the All DP increase effect, to now stack its buff at faster speeds, which we hope will encourage more Warriors to remain sturdy bulwarks in the front lines.

For Awakening Sorceress, we made adjustments to skills that dealt significantly less damage in PvE versus the amount of time it took to cast said skills in hopes to encourage their use as opposed to the more popular Violation or Swirling Damage. Cartian's Nightmare was also dealing damage differently based on the location of the target, so we made the skill now deal the same damage regardless of the attack area. We also improved the skill's cast time to make it easier to utilize in PvE combos, which we hope will empower Sorceress Adventurers to dish out even greater amounts of damage.

Maehwa
For Succession Maehwa, we aimed to further build upon her "hit-and-run" gameplay style, which was why in a previous patch we had added an extra Guard gauge damage effect and increased the damage dealt by her skills with high accuracy (such as Red: Blooming) to really make her play with a "one shot, one kill" vibe. However, we felt that certain skills' damage figures were tweaked a bit too high, so we decided to take another look at the damage dealt by Red: Blooming and Prime: Charged Stub Arrow. While we made further tweaks to what were significantly high levels of damage, we made sure to keep Maehwa's momentarily dangerous edge on the battlefield intact with our changes.

Thus, we decided to make it so that simply using Stately Dignity alone will grant the Attack Speed buff (thus removing the buff from being applied by Pendulum Cleaver). Hence, Lahns will now only have to use Stately Dignity - Dismemberment to obtain both Attack and Movement Speed buffs. We also buffed the damage of certain skills with long cast times to bolster her PvE capabilities.

Sage
We focused on improving the Awakening Sage's movements to operate freely around the battlefield. Impaling Flash's previous iteration became rather difficult to use the more opponents stood on the battlefield, so we changed it into more of a gap-closing charge skill.
We also lowered the cooldown for the skill Divine Executioner, thus allowing Awakening Sages to quickly enter and retreat from battle more frequently than before.

Woosa
Today's patch brings about a huge change to Woosa's Awakening. First off, her signature Awakening skill Life Lure gains the Forward Guard buff, along with increased max summonable range. Being that this skill bears such powerful potential, we adjusted the skill's Sari Flower's explosive damage downward. Regardless, we felt the added Forward Guard buff would provide some safety to Woosas in sticky situations, and look forward to seeing more Woosas in largescale battles such as Node and Conquest Wars thanks to her added range. In addition, we made some improvements to a few combos to flow better.

  • Added a feature to the Ring Menu to toggle the use of Gathering Interaction.

Ocean Current

Ocean currents and winds were important elements for adventurers who enjoy a life at sea, especially since the currents acted as routes along the ocean. These were elements that had to be be organically addressed depending on the situation during sailing. While the winds could be overcome by folding the sails of large ships, it was not easy to respond to the currents. Unfortunately, we could not provide positive experiences for adventurers taking their first steps into the ocean and captains who want to move along a certain route. Now that the currents have been removed, adventurers setting sail for the first time can easily reach their destination along their desired route.
  • Ocean currents that flowed in certain directions in the coastal and oceanic areas have weakened.
    • Removed the ocean current system that increased/decreased speed depending on the direction of ships.
    • Removed ocean current from the ship's helm UI.

The level of a pet is designed as a growth element in the affectionate relationship between adventurers and their pets. As their level increases, pets acquire social actions and adventurers develop closer relationships with them by going on adventures together. Many adventurers cherish and love their pets, whether it’s a Long-tailed Rosefinch perched on their shoulder, a cat riding with them on a horse, or a penguin that is cute just by being there, regardless of their level. Since many pets are beloved regardless of their levels, the level of pets has been removed and social actions are now available from the beginning of your adventures together.
  • Removed the level of pets.
    • All pet social actions, which were acquired by leveling, are now available the moment you register them.
    • Adjusted tier 5 pet description regarding training conditions and items to reflect the level removal.
    • Removed all level related descriptions from pet registration items.
    • Removed pet growth related contents from the Pearl Shop.

  • The Dokkebi’s Prank buff can now be obtained through conversation with Prankkebi near the Byukgye Institute in Land of the Morning Light.
  • Improved the UI of View All Chat Menu.

Monster

With today's patch, we've expanded the accessibility of Marni's Realm to additional Monster Zones. Thirteen zones are now included in this update. We know that many of our adventurers frequent these zones and were disappointed that Marni's Realm was not previously available. We hope this addition, though small, brings meaningful enhancement to your gameplay experience.

Through today's patch, we have improved the loot from certain monster zones that were previously inefficient

These include Mirumok Ruins in Kamasylvia, Gyfin Rhasia Temple (Upper), and Elvia Serendia (Swamp Fogan, Swamp Naga, Altar Imp, Castle Ruins, Biraghi Den). Additionally, we haveadjusted the Max Price of Cup items on the Central Market from 2 billion to 5 billion.

Next, we would like to address the Optimal AP system that many of you have been discussing, often referring to it as a soft cap.

There are various monster zones in the world of Black Desert, and our Adventurers play in zones that match the level of their gear. In our current situation, it is possible for Adventurers with high-end gear to acquire excessive rewards from monster zones that are relatively easy for them. The Optimal AP system was implemented to prevent this to a certain degree.

However, instead of venturing into higher-tier monster zones for greater risks and rewards, many adventurers prefer to stay in zones such as Elvia Serendia for stable profits, which led many to directly experience the Optimal AP system. Moreover, the fact that higher-tier zones offer similar loot compared to lower-tier zones (Orc Camp, Abyssal Zone, etc.) has also been a concern for our Adventurers.

Despite its problems, we still believe the Optimal AP system is necessary. We will improve the UI so in-game monster zone descriptions display the Optimal AP value and explain its meaning, and reassess if the system matches the current situation of monster zones and make changes if necessary. We will also consider values required to enter monster zones, such as Minimum AP.

Quest & Knowledge

In Black Desert, quests are intricately woven into the content. When initially developed, the difficulty and balance were calibrated to suit the adventurers playing at the time. This involved careful consideration of values derived from daily quest rewards, production time, and other factors.
As the game service continues, we have been working progressively to recalibrate the balance to align with current standards. A recent example of this ongoing work was the removal of the Valencia Part 2 quest from the main questlines.
Our commitment to enhancing the player experience continues, and we will strive to update and refine older content or any content with balance settings that may now be considered excessive.

Narchillan Gear Quest

Skip Atoraxxion Threads (Puzzles)

    • Now the threads can be unraveld with an incomplete authorization without tangling it, because they have been losing the ability to hide the data.
    • Can be skipped or untangled with the Atoraxxion quests in progress.

Valencia Part II Quests

With this update, the Valencia Part II quests, which tells the story of Zobadi and Afuaru, who have long been in the memories of adventurers in Black Desert, have been excluded from the Main Quest. The quest was designed for adventurers to explore the vast desert without navigation support and to provide a unique experience of the desert. However, it is true that these quests have hindered the footsteps of many adventurers who want to move on to the next adventure. After much consideration, it was decided to exclude these quests from the Main Quest, as they can still be enjoyed as regular story quests after clearing the fog of the unknown desert. Although those who enjoyed theses quests as Main Quests may be somewhat disappointed, skilled adventurers can still look forward to visiting Valencia. If you want to challenge the story of Zobadi and Afuaru, you can always visit Afuaru to continue the story.
Starting with the Valencia Part II quests, we will continue to improve many older quests that have been causing inconvenience since release.

  • Changed the condition for accepting the first quest of [ADV Support] Beginning of Camping, the Survival Guru quest, where you can experience camping.

  • Added Duvane’s knowledge to the quest reward of [Balenos] Officer Feinia.
    • If you have already completed this quest, completing the [Balenos] How to Get Stronger quest will have Duvane, who temporarily left Balenos for the Main quest, to return to the Western Guard Camp. Interact with Duvane to receive the knowledge and remove the question mark icon from your mini-map.

 

 

Node/Conquest War

Today’s update increased the rewards for Node War and Conquest War. The tax rate was also adjusted so that guilds can obtain more funds when they win in Node War and Conquest War. Starting with the reward increase for Node War and Conquest War, we will quickly work to improve PvP-related content by reviewing and reflecting on feedback as much as possible.

UI

Improved Find NPCs feature

The "Find NPCs" feature was designed to make it easier to locate NPCs you have encountered at least once while adventuring and learning knowledge in Black Desert. Now, even if you've never met them before, you can search for and find key NPCs such as blacksmiths, innkeeper, sky balloon, food vendor, etc., and receive directions to them.
  • When using the Find NPCs feature, some NPCs can now be searched and navigated without learning their knowledge.
    • NPCs that can be searched and navigated without knowledge include those related to cooking, inn, stable, blacksmith, fishing, and sky balloon.
      • However, NPCs that you don't have the knowledge about will be displayed as "Unknown NPC".
    • When searching in the search bar at the bottom of the Find NPCs, input the NPC name will display navigation.

Category sorting feature

  • Added Category sorting feature for the inventory.
    • This feature allows adventurers to easily view their items according to their usage.

  • The entrance to Atoraxxion, "Talibre’s Door", is now displayed on the World Map.
    • This icon will be displayed when you've learned the knowledge of Talibre’s Door via the Atoraxxion main quest.

  • Improved the font size of detailed item info tooltips in production nodes.

 

 

System

We've added features so that you cannot press and hold the same key, and to summon a powerful spook if you defeat monsters on the same spot for a prolonged period. This is to prevent adventurers from being misunderstood or making mistakes, and to preemptively prevent playing while AFK.
  • If the same key is held down for one minute, the input for that key will no longer be applied.
  • Added a Spook that can one-shot the character if they continously fight monsters in one spot without moving.

  • Doubled the maximum number of players that can enter Marni’s Realm simultaneously per server.
  • Optimized memory.

  • Fixed an issue where the screen froze when creating a family name for the first time.
  • Fixed the issue where abnormal information about the alliance guild was displayed occasionally in the territory information of the world map.
  • Fixed an issue where the image disappeared when the Adventure Log was opened after the completion message of the Morning Light Adventure Log was displayed.
  • Fixed an issue where the message was not displayed when a horse connected to a wagon grows and learns a skill.
  • Fixed an issue where the description of the Kkebicharm item was unnatural.

  • Fixed the issue where characters were moved to abnormal locations when reconnecting at a specific location in the Gyfin Rhasia Temple.

  • Fixed the issue where the UI for completing item combinations did not disappear in certain situations.
  • Fixed the issue where the effect displayed when an item is reusable looked unnatural.
  • Fixed the issue where the close button in the upper right corner of the Black Shrine UI was displayed.
  • Fixed the issue where the UI was displayed in an abnormal position when loading occurs during boss fights in the Black Shrine.
  • Fixed the issue where unused text was displayed in the Conquest War status.
  • Changed the quest objective phrase of the "New Business" quest.
