Greetings Adventurers,
Creating the best MMORPG has always been Pearl Abyss’ drive in developing Black Desert, and we have been blessed to meet our Adventurers through PC, mobile and console platforms. In the recent PS4 Beta, we were blown away by all the passion, feedback, and support that you have given us - it has served as a guiding light in our pursuit of developing the best MMORPG.
We are excited to give an official greeting to our Playstation 4 Adventurers that have been patiently waiting for us. Before the official launch, we would like to share our goals with the Adventurers who will be joining us in this great journey.
Global Black Desert
Our first goal is to provide Black Desert to Adventurers all around the world.
Black Desert Playstation 4 will have North America, Europe, and Asia servers and will be available in 37 countries and 7 languages. There will be 8 countries available in the Asia server: Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Below are the supported languages for each server:
- North America: English, French, Spanish
- Europe: English, German, French, Spanish
- Asia: English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional planned)
Pearl Abyss will continue to expand the service regions so that we can offer the best MMORPG experience to any Adventurer-to-be. We hope you guys look forward to it!
Open Communication in Black Desert
Our second goal is to provide an environment where our global Adventurers can communicate with each other openly.
Black Desert Playstation 4 will be a community where Adventurers from different countries that speak different languages collaborate and compete against each other. Language is one of the main obstacles in communication and we have discussed in depth on how to alleviate this. In the end, we decided that at least unifying the language for family and character names across all regions was the best way to ease communication within the game.
Therefore, family and character names will be available only in English in all regions, including Asia. We understand that this may be an inconvenience for some Adventurers. However, we believe that it’s better to provide an option for everyone to greet your friendly neighborhood Adventurer instead of not having an option at all due to the language barrier. We hope that our Adventurers can understand our reasoning and we will continue to do our best to listen to your feedback.
Currently we are wrapping up our final preparations for the Black Desert Playstation 4 launch. With the amount of time we have spent on perfecting the game, we hope that it will meet everyone’s expectations and we will do our best to provide a service befitting of the best MMORPG on console.
We’re looking forward to guide you on your Black Desert Playstation 4 journey,
Black Desert Console Team
