Greetings, Adventurers!

Thank you for joining us once again for the 'Hero of the Black Shrine', an interview series dedicated to highlighting the remarkable achievements of players in our community who have conquered the daunting bosses of the Black Shrine at the highest difficulty: Calamity 7!

Today, we would like to highlight the will of an unbreakable Guardian who has triumphed over the Bamboo Legion, Moonlight_Order! [GM]Vaha has ventured to Shimnidae Forest in the Land of Morning Light to meet up with this masterful adventurer to ask a few questions. We hope to gain some perspective on their thoughts & insights concerning these Boss Blitz battles to see if we may learn some tips & tricks against the unwavering Bamboo Legion!

Hello! I am so honored and excited to meet your acquaintance! Could you please briefly introduce yourself?

Moonlight_Order

Hi, I'm Moonlight_Order otherwise known as Warbrynhildr - I love to do PVP and grinding in BlackDesert

[GM]Vaha

Is this class your main and how long have you been playing on it? History about previous classes is welcome as well!

Moonlight_Order

I started BlackDesert as a Valkyrie about 3 years ago, but as soon as Guardian released for Console i made the swap and have been maining her ever since!

[GM]Vaha

How long did it take you to triumph over the Bamboo Legion in Calamity 7, and then how long did it take to lock-in a top time?

How would you rate Bamboo Legion's difficulty compared to the other Calamity 7's you've attempted?

Moonlight_Order

Ahh, it was quite the grind - it was a long time and many tries.. I spent about 4 hours to get it down. I didn't have all the light orbs so I was fighting with only 3 of them for the longest time.. But after I figured that out and got a hang of the fight - I was able to get my top time in the next hour after my initial clear.

I've attempted Sangoon & Golden Pig King on Calamity 7 since then but those have definitely been more challenging so I'll keep working at it to eventually defeat them!

Did you approach the fight blind, so that you may encounter and figure out all the mechanics on your own? Or did you utilize a guide?

Moonlight_Order

The boss is pretty straight-forward so I didn't really need a guide to challenge it. I was just vigilant and learned the flow of the fight slowly.

[GM]Vaha

What do you think are the advantages/disadvantages of your class when facing off against this particular boss?

Moonlight_Order

With Guardian, its like a double-edged sword. You are very protected during your skills but they require us to be stationary a lot of times during them. Sometimes this can be bad because standing still for too long can be a death-sentence in this fight.

I'd say a big advantage Guardian has is the very high damage per ability paired with the massive AoE's to help deal with the bamboo soldier reinforcements. The great frontal guards from the Succession kit are also a big help. The health regeneration from Guardian's skills are also pretty nice. When I supplemented this with health-on-hit crystals and skill-addons, this really helped sustain me throughout the fight.

What was the most difficult mechanic during this boss fight in your opinion? and do you have advice on how to best handle it?

Moonlight_Order

The first pack of elites was the most trouble because the archer always runs off and continues to fire upon me from range! So as a Guardian I think its a great strategy to stick close to the perimeter of the boss arena as to keep our backs protected while clearing these mobs with frontal guard attacks.

Managing the blue flames that would call bamboo legion reinforcements also was quite challenging so I think positioning somewhat near the lanterns to clip them with Omua's Objurgation or quickly flying over with Infernal nemesis is also very important.

Can you give some advice on when there will be a good timing window to push for damage on the boss?

Moonlight_Order

Yes when you take out the elite soldiers, the boss will also become much more vunerable to your attacks so I'd recommend saving your big buffs for that window and then hit him with everything you've got!

What motivated you to keep striving towards overcoming the highest difficulty of this boss?

Moonlight_Order

I always like challenging myself with hard content. I also love finding the limits of my class and trying my best to break through them! it's always a great feeling to compete for the first clear as well as the top times :)

What are some tips & tricks for shaving a few seconds off the clear time for those of us out there shooting for a place on the leaderboards?

Moonlight_Order

This may be a little obvious but it is important to learn the layout of the arena so that you can traverse from elite packs to the next within the least amount of time so that you have more time to focus on the actual boss fight!
