The latest Great Ocean update has brought a range of new Blue-grade Ship Gears along with the new ships!
Ship Gears
Ship gears are an essential component of your seafaring adventures because they provide hefty upgrades to ship stats and help you gradually work your way up toward the next tier of ships. Since crafting higher tier ships can take quite a bit of effort and time (not to mention an extensive amount of searching in the ocean to acquire higher grade ship materials), it’s a good idea to increase your sea effectiveness through ship gears before moving on to the task of crafting better ships.
Ship gears offer a wide range of stat increases, everything from firepower, durability, ship rations, speed, turn, brake and cargo limits. First, you’ll start out with Green grade ship gears which can be bought from Philaberto Falasi in Port Epheria.
Blue Grade Ship Gears, on the other hand, are top of the line ship equipment that can be equipped by Caravels, Galleasses, and Carracks. These cannot be bought and must be crafted by the Adventurer. Materials to craft Blue Grade ship gears are mostly obtained on the ocean, albeit arduously, through ocean-related questing, defeating sea monsters and bartering).
Blue Grade Ship Gear for Caravel and Galleass
As good as they come, it’ll take a lot of time to acquire all the materials to craft blue grade ship gears. Once you do manage to collect the materials, visit the Lv. 4 Ship Part Workshop at Port Epheria (1-4, 2F) to begin crafting.

Caravel and Galleass Ship Gear Enhancment
Caravel and Galleass Ship Gear use special Black Stones called Fiery Black Stone and Frosted Black Stone for enhancement. Unlike ordinary Black Stones, these stones have a durability stat which decreases every time you attempt a normal enhancement, allowing the adventurer to enhance multiple times with one stone.
Also, enhancement level does not drop when the enhancement attempt fails for the new ship equipment, unlike the pre-existing equipment. However, keep in mind that Fiery Black Stones and Frosted Black Stones are much harder to come by.
Item | Enhancement Use | Crow Coins | Durability |
Fiery Black Stone | +1 ~ +5 | 10 | 5 |
Frosted Black Stone | +6 ~ +10 | 20 | 10 |
Fiery Black Stones are essential enhancement materials that are used in the first +1 to +5 enhancements. Their durability cost for normal Enhancement failure is 5. They’re primarily acquired through Bartering or bought through the Crow Coin Exchange.
Frosted Black Stones are the next level enhancement materials for +6 to +10 enhancements. Much like Fiery Black Stones, they’re obtained through Bartering (occasionally, via sailing quests), killing Lopters, or can be bought at the cost of 20 Crow Coins from Rebinia. Durability cost for normal Enhancement failure is 10.
Chiro Ship Gears for Carracks
Chiro Ship Gears are Carrack-only exclusive gear. They can be crafted in two different kinds of workshops. 1) Chiro’s Ship Parts Workshop on Illya Island houses can be used to craft the 16 types of Chiro ship items, and Sunset Black Stones which will be further explained later. 2) Chiro’s Workshop for each respective ship part have the same function but are spread amongst different islands.
Chiro ship gear crafting also requires Excavation Nodes to be unlocked to gain access to Starlight Powder. Starlight Powder is a necessary material used in the crafting of Sunset Black Stones and Chiro’s Blueprint. While Chiro’s Blueprint is an essential material in crafting Chiro ship gear, Sunset Black Stones are used to enhance the Chiro ship gear once they have been crafted.
